Quotes from the book:

  • Pretending he'd no notion what his great-aunt was up to, Grenville sucked on the head of his cane and watched a lumbering, old-fashioned, traveling coach move ponderously along the street toward them. It was forced to pull up behind the Templeton's equipage, the grizzled driver waiting patiently for the blockage to open up. There was a rider coming along beside the coach who waited with far less patience, noted Grenville, a youngish man, bending to look at someone seated inside.  (What page?)  Pg. 29

  • The horse neared her and the equestrian noticed her standing near the stile she been about to climb. The man waved, changed his course the trifle necessary to come up with her, and as he approached, peered at her.  (What page?)  Pg. 52

  • Something must be done to make that chit understand it is essential she turn off unacceptable suitors! Those boys are fast becoming men. In fact I had boys younger than they come out to the Peninsula as responsible officers. Those two idiots obviously have no self control whatsoever and very little knowledge of proper behavior. The could easily get themselves and everyone else into serious difficulties over a girl they both wish to court....    (What page?)  Pg. 102
